UK Standard Visitor Visa: how funds are considered

What the published Visitor rules say about having enough money for your trip, and why there is no official minimum bank balance.

What the rules say

The Visitor rules in Appendix V require applicants to have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs of their visit without working or accessing public funds.

The published rules do not set a fixed minimum bank balance for visitors. Any number you see quoted as an official minimum should be checked against GOV.UK.

Why consistency matters

Your income, savings, trip budget and who is paying should fit together. For example, a trip budget larger than the funds you report creates a gap that needs explaining.

If someone else pays for your trip, the relationship between you and that person, and their ability to pay, are part of the funding picture.

Check your own situation

eVisaScore compares your approximate figures and highlights funding gaps or inconsistencies, labelled clearly as consistency checks or readiness indicators, not UKVI thresholds.
